One cast, more than one control

Finding Neutral gave you the read. Pick a surface you know should be neutral, then compare the three channels over a lit part of it. It gave you one pair of controls for closing the gap. There are others. They do not all do the same job, so the next decision is which one this plate needs.

Start with the pair you already use. Blackmagic's manual describes Temperature as a specifically constrained Gain color balance adjustment, running from warm orange to cool blue. Tint is the same kind of move on the magenta to green axis. That description is worth keeping, because a gain move is a multiply. It does most of its work where the picture is bright, and very little of it down near black.

Raw media has its own Color Temp and Tint, and they are different controls at a different stage. They sit in the Camera Raw palette. Color Temp is set in Kelvin, and Tint runs on its own green to magenta scale. They change how the clip is decoded. Decoding is turning the camera's sensor data into a picture. Resolve does it first, before anything on the Color page. So a raw white balance is not a correction stacked on the picture. It is a better picture handed to everything after it.

The third control comes from the film lab. In the Primaries palette, Bars mode gives you three vertical Offset sliders, one for red, one for green and one for blue. Drag one and you raise or lower that channel in its entirety. The stepped version of that move is what Resolve calls printer points. Offset adds where temperature multiplies, so it reaches the bottom of the trace. It also works on a log plate that has to stay log until its transform. There is a fourth method, and Core is only going to name it. A camera balances by scaling red and blue against green, before any curve is applied to the sensor's own measurement. The faithful version in Resolve does that multiply on the sensor's own measurement, inside a managed project. It needs color management you have not configured yet, so it belongs to Balancing Mixed Sources and Color Space Transforms.

Pick the control from the state the picture is in, not from habit. A raw clip is better balanced at the decode. A log plate that has to stay log answers to the Offset sliders. Everything else answers to Temperature and Tint.
